He's only hated because of the Malcolm Butler play, but he's still a pretty good coach.
He wouldn't be calling the plays anyway
Maybe I’m mistaken but wasn’t it Pete Carroll that called the play?
pete carol took all the blame after the game but bevel said later that he called every play that year tbh
Ah alright thanks, even so, that was one of those calls that either works and you’re a genius or it doesn’t and it’s the dumbest idea ever.
Looking at that entire season, they wen't for it because Lynch was bad at punching it in from the 1 or 2 yard line. Very surprising, but he had a very low TD % when using lynch in that situation. The call itself was not bad at all, it was just a miraculous int
IMO that was terrible play calling. You give it to beast mode just like the niners should have given it to gore. Those guys are good for a couple yards on that many downs.
You completely ignored that no, they aren't good at it. He had a very low td% percentage in those situations
He averaged 4.7 yards a carry that year. You put a super bowl 1 yard away from beast mode and he’s gonna get it. Especially with three downs. I understand what you’re saying about his red zone efficiency I just think he would not have been stopped in that situation.
He was destroying the Patriots all game long. Let's call it what it is, the worst play in superbowl history. Absolute hubris that blew up in their face and deservedly so. They have 1 less championship because of that stupid play.
Seahawks fans hated him long before that play
That offense has looked like a mess the past two years. The year Wilson was hurt they were absolutely abysmal. They cannot run the ball, their blocking is one dimensional. This is the same impact Aaron Rodgers had on Ben McAdoo. I don't see the value here.
I'd rather go with a ballsy pick from college than a "safe" pick that won't contribute if they absolutely need to take over the offense for whatever reason or end up with any real responsibility.
Is that the guy they all hated? Wasn't he fired?
I know their fans hated Tom Cable their offensive line coach. He and Bevell were both fired after the season
As a Giants fan stuck in Seattle - I’ve been following the Hawks a bunch over the past few years. The hawks have had an extremely dysfunctional offense under this guy. Outside of the obvious o-line and running game issues, I question the gameplan/playcalling under him. Their offense has been wildly inconsistent. They’ve basically been playing backyard football, letting Wilson drop back and improvise until someone gets open. I really don’t know what Bevell has been doing on the sideline, because anyone couldve put together a more orignal playbook.
Russell Wilson’s elite mobility has covered up the problems over the years. I’m dreading what this guy does with Eli’s below average mobility. We better hope Shurmur doesn’t rely on him too heavily and never gives up play calling responsibilities!
I feel like it's unnecessary to be worried about the majority of the things you've said. I dont anticipate our offense looking anything like the Seattle offense of the last 3+ years. If Bevell is hired, it will mean that he has checked everything at the door; it's Shurmur's offense and Shurmur's playbook and Shurmur will be calling the plays. Weve all known since the hire that Shurmur was only going to bring a guy in that understands his [Shurmur's] offense/has the ability to coach in that offense.
We won't be seeing any RPOs for a 38 y/o Eli.
I would not be in favor of this hire but I do need to defend him a little bit. The front office of the team repeatedly showed that they have no interest in investing in the offensive line. I mean, for fucksake, their left tackle last year was more a basketball player. Plus, Russell Wilson is honestly in offensive coordinators worst nightmare despite being a terrific player. He constantly abandoned play design to to try to make something work on his own and often times it works and then Russell gets all the credit, but then when it fails people look at the offensive coordinator
If we hired him I would be too upset that Shummer calls the plays
Wrong! Where’s my money?
Mike Shula? Yuck!!!
Darrell Bevell? Ugh...fuck you, Minnesota. Back to hating that useless franchise.
